Alan Michael Kidwell-Horne
Solicitor LLB (Hons), Managing Director
Alan Michael, commonly known as Michael, has a leading role in all areas at Kidwells as its Founder and Managing Director. He is also the Founder of Kidwells Group, which encompasses our sister companies such as Kidwells Guest House, Kidwells Accounts and Bookkeeping, and Kidwells Loans.
Michael achieved his degree and Legal Practice Course at the Derby and Wolverhampton Universities, qualifying in 2006. Before founding Kidwells Law Solicitors, he worked at several firms across Hereford and the Midlands and spent 12 months working with barristers gaining insight into serious crime and immigration.
Above all, Michael’s background in business gives him a unique perspective and insight into commercial cases, saving time and money for businesses across all legal needs. His main areas of experience are crime, and civil and commercial law including litigation and dispute resolution. He supervises the litigation department.
Michael’s biggest passion outside of Kidwells is sailing. He is a qualified Ocean Yacht Master, on top of being a qualified pilot, skydiver, and sea diver and many other qualifications, skill and experiences that he will gladly share with you. Not least of all, owning a firm and driving lorries delivering goods all around Europe. It is fair to say that Michael has been places and understands the requirements of businesses of all kinds., so wherever you are in your business you can feel confident that Michael has faced the same challenges and triumphs personally, and come out of it successfully.
Head of Employment & Client HR
Kate has been a part of Kidwells Solicitors since summer 2017 as an integral part of the team. Previously Practice Manager at Kidwells, she now uses her 10 years of HR experience to support our clients with their own employment and HR matters. Before working at our firm, she spent over 20 years in the health and social care/voluntary sector which gives her significant insight into the needs of our clients.
Above all, Kate’s experience means she can be proactive. She runs our Legal Shield and HR packages, which provide continual access to support so businesses can focus on preventing, and not just fixing, matters around employment and human resources. Away from work, you’ll find her chasing runaway hounds and enjoying wine with her friends.
Family Specialist, FCILEx, BA (Hons)
Hellen joined Kidwells in 2018 as a Family Lawyer, and has worked in family law for over 20 years. She’s a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and supports our clients in all areas of family law, providing a professional and compassionate service. As Head of Family, she has led the department from strength to strength and supervises the Legal Assistants and support staff across all family law matters.
Outside of work, Hellen spends her time spoiling her growing number of grandchildren and making sure her rescue dog, Ruby, are as spoiled as they are. Holidays in Europe included.
Solicitor, Litigation, Commercial
Gavin joined the Litigation team in December 2018. After completing his law degree at Wolverhamption University in 2004 and his LPC in 2008, Gavin achieved Legal Executive status in June 2015 and completed his training contract in April 2017 to become a solicitor. His experience lies mainly in commercial and litigation cases, including shareholder disputes, boundary disputes, contested probates, and other matters. Gavin has also worked in travel law. His detail-oriented approach helps break down complex cases. In his spare time, he’s a keen cyclist and builds his own computers.
Paralegal, Litigation, Employment & HR
Rosie joined Kidwells in 2018 as a Legal Assistant and was promoted to Paralegal upon completion of her Graduate Diploma. She graduated with a BA Hons in Sociology at the University of York before obtaining a Graduate Diploma in Law. She’s now undertaking her Master of Laws and Legal Practice Course, with the aim of starting her Training Contract with us in September.
Her work is predominantly in employment and human resources matters, such as disputes in the workplace. She also has experience in litigation and conveyancing.
Rosie is a keen hiker and horse rider, and makes time to volunteer and pick up new skills, like studying French.
Legal Assistant, Family
Chloe first joined Kidwells as a Marketing Assistant in 2017, before becoming a Business Administration Apprentice and progressing to a legal secretary role. This led to her current role as Legal Assistant while she studies with CILEx to be able to practice as a Chartered Legal Executive. Her work as Legal Assistant involves a wide variety of family cases including child contact, domestic violence, divorce, and finances. Between work and study, Chloe is also writing a book.
Legal Assistant, Family
After achieving his LPC, Alex joined Kidwells in 2019 as a Legal Assistant focused on family matters, such as financial settlements, divorce, and other cases in the family department. He occasionally assists in civil matters, too, and is working toward his training contract to qualify as a Solicitor. Alex also enjoys running, archery, and is learning the art of Bonsai.
Legal Assistant, Litigation
Lee joined Kidwells in March 2019 as a Legal Assistant, supervised by Alan Michael Kidwell-Horne, and is working toward Paralegal status upon completion of his degree at the University of Essex. As a lawyer, Lee’s main areas of experience are in litigation including debt recovery. He also supports our clients in wills and probate matters. Outside of law, Lee’s also beaten two Rider Cup players in golf.
Legal Assistant, Litigation
Alan joined Kidwells at the start of 2020 as a Legal Assistant in litigation matters. After owning several companies and building them from concept to successfully trading, he is now using his experience in business to support our clients in their legal matters. Like Lee, Alan is working toward Paralegal status upon completion of his degree. He’s also a qualified electrician and electrical supervisor. In his spare time, Alan plays the guitar and enjoys using the Kidwells Gym.
